You can find a snippet of this list here, but we thought it would be helpful to delve a little further into each one – starting with the tankless water heater.

Tankless water heaters (also called “on-demand” units) only heat water when you turn the faucet on.  While this means you may have to wait a touch longer for hot water to pour from the faucet, the benefits you enjoy are far greater:

1) You are conserving a great amount of energy (not to mention money on utility bills) by not storing 50 or more gallons of hot water until you are ready to use it.

2) You don’t run out of hot water. If you’re like many American households, mornings are a hectic time of the entire household getting showered and dressed for work and/or school. With a traditional hot water heater, it’s fairly common for the first person in the shower to use most of the hot water, leaving the family members behind him or her “in the cold.”

3) Your water is typically cleaner, as rust and scale doesn’t form in a tankless water unit in the manner of traditional units.

4) You’re not only saving money on utility bills, but you’re saving space. Most tankless water heaters can be placed anywhere in the house. They’re typically hung on walls, opening up valuable closet or floor space.

5) With a tankless unit, you can run multiple appliances simultaneously (think dishwasher and washing machine) and not run out of hot water. And if you have a Jacuzzi, you can enjoy the full benefits of it freely.

6) The potential flooding due to a ruptured tank is eliminated.

7) Finally, while the cost of a tankless water heater is often greater than a traditional unit, they last longer (10 to 15 years) and the warranty is greater. Ultimately, you end up spending less.
